Case Description
On August 21, 2019, Zavien was outside on a very hot summer day with his two step-siblings ages 7 and 9 according to witnesses. Apparently a young black male wearing all black, including a hoodie that he wore over his head, came walking by and called Zavien by his name. The suspect kept walking but turned and pulled a gun out. The suspect then started to shoot. Zavien and his young siblings ran for cover. Zavien and his 7yr old step-sibling were shot. His step-sibling was rushed to the hospital while Zavien was found facedown on the side of the house. Zavien was also rushed to the hospital and died shortly after. There were no other witnesses other than the step-siblings and camera footage wasn't working enough to get a close up of the suspect's face.
