Case Description

On July 26th, 1971, a teen’s body was found decomposed, floating in Snedden creek in Coos County, Oregon. Details reported at the time revealed that official cause of death was unlikely due to decomposition, work to identify the teen was not successful in 1971. Decades later, while looking for answers due to adoption, Wint’s daughter Lori would be the force behind advocating for her father and returning dignity by giving back his identity. It took a daughters devotion, advances in technology, and prolonged advocacy before Winston “Wint” Maxey would be identified as that victim and connected back to his family. Wint’s daughter continues to advocate for him and seek judicial resolution in this 52 year old unsolved case.
