***UPDATE*** On April 10, 2026, Kierra Chapman was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for the collision, with four additional years suspended. She was initially charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and three misdemeanors.
***UPDATE*** On July 28, 2025, authorities announced the arrest of Kierra Chapman in connection with Samayah Barker Lee's death. Chapman was charged with felony leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death and three misdemeanors.
On April 4th, 2021, Samayah Barker Lee was driving home from a friend’s birthday party with her boyfriend, cousin, and friend when a car struck them and killed Samayah in the process. The vehicle that hit Samayah and her peers was left at the crash site. The crash took place in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the intersection of McKinney Avenue and Layfette Street. Samyah’s family continues to advocate for her and seek judicial resolution in this 3 year cold case.
