On November 19, 1990, Robert Tapper was inside his home with his two-year old son at 67-10 51st road in Woodside, New York. Robert had heard noises and went to investigate. Multiple men had gotten inside the house through an open window and attacked Robert. Newspapers report Robert's main focus was to protect his son. Robert was transported to City Hospital Center at Elmhurst where he died from his injuries the next day. The case is still unsolved and his family has continued to seek justice/ advocate for Robert’s case.
