On July 5, 2014, 22-year-old Monsharay Townsend was found murdered in the 500 block of Buchanan Street in Gary, IN. At approximately 10:00 a.m., police discovered her body in an alley, prompting a homicide investigation. The Lake County Coroner’s Office and the Gary Police Department began investigating the circumstances surrounding Monsharay’s death, which they determined was due to blunt force trauma. Her murder left loved ones grieving the loss of a young woman whose life was taken far too soon and searching for answers about what happened to her.
