Case Description
On October 3, 1982, 29-year-old Maurice Lee Dyer was shot in Portsmouth, Ohio. The shooting occurred around 1:13 a.m. while Maurice was standing on the sidewalk in front of a residence at 1614 11th Street, where he had stopped to help a friend move. He was transported to Scioto Memorial Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Police also reported that sometime after the shooting—and before 3:00 a.m.—someone entered Maurice’s home and took several items, including a stereo, speakers, a television set, and a cable TV converter. More than four decades later, Maurice’s life and story still matter. His family continues to live with unanswered questions, carrying the weight of loss that time cannot erase.
