On April 23, 2014, Dallas police responded to a shooting at the Preston Oaks Crossing Condos, located at 5626 Preston Oaks Road, in Far North Dallas, TX. Officers found 37-year-old Matthew "Scott" De La Garza suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in the street. He was transported to Medical City Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. At the time, investigators were seeking information in the case and publicly asked for help locating a woman believed to have been with him before the shooting. Since 2014, Scott's family continues to seek justice, while advocating for him.
