On September 13, 2005, Mason Cross, 5, was discovered deceased in his bed at home off Dearborn Street in Girard, Ohio. Mason was sleeping in his bedroom upstairs when someone stabbed his mother, Lena Cross, to death on the first floor of the home and set the house on fire in an attempt to cover up the crime. Investigators determined Mason died from smoke inhalation in his sleep. There have been no suspects in custody, and this case remains unsolved. Mason's family continues to work with law enforcement, while advocating for him.
