Case Description
On the morning of July 6, 2016, 24-year-old Marquette Dames left his home in Tampa, Florida, and walked to the residence of a family member. When no one answered the door, Marquette began making his way back home on foot. Somewhere along the way, near the area of Fowler Avenue and 15th Street, he encountered an unknown individual. For reasons that remain unclear, the individual physically attacked Marquette before shooting him as he tried to run away. Marquette was also robbed during the attack. Marquette was rushed to an area hospital, but tragically, he died from his injuries. Surveillance footage captured a person believed to be connected to the shooting riding away from the area on a bicycle, and investigators later recovered the bicycle. Despite the available footage and continued pleas from Marquette’s family, no one has been brought to justice for his death.
