Case Description
On August 9, 2024, 72-year-old Larry Drayton Sr. was inside his home in the 1900 block of Gay Drive in Augusta, Georgia, when an unknown person fired multiple gunshots into the residence. One of the bullets struck Larry in the back of the head while he was in bed. Larry was transported to the Medical College of Georgia for treatment and was later transferred to a nursing facility. Seventeen days after the shooting, on August 26, 2024, Larry died from his injuries. His death was ruled a homicide, and no suspect has been identified. Tragically, Larry’s 15-year-old son, Larry Drayton Jr., was also shot and killed in Augusta in 2003. His murder remains unsolved as well. More than two decades apart, the Drayton family continues to seek answers in the unsolved homicides of both father and son.
