On August 15, 2013, the Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call that a person was found in the area of Leah Court and Meadow Road in Lehigh Acres. Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered a deceased male. Detectives arrived and assumed the investigation. The decedent was later identified as Kyle Byrtus: a white male with a date of birth of May 17, 1988. Kyle was a high school star track athlete and student at Fort Myers High School. The death was later determined to be a homicide.
