Case Description

On October 10, 2001, 29-year-old Josiah Game Matthews Jr. was shot and killed while working the overnight shift at a RaceTrac gas station located at 23233 Alabama Highway 20, near the Interstate 65 overpass in Alabama. The shooting occurred shortly after midnight. Investigators believed the homicide was a random act of violence committed during a robbery. At the time, the RaceTrac location was not equipped with surveillance cameras, leaving investigators without video footage of the incident. The building where Josiah was killed has since been demolished. More than two decades later, Josiah's murder remains unsolved. Investigators continue to seek information that could help identify the person responsible for his death and bring answers and justice to his family.
