UPDATE - On December 23, 2019, Eddie Rhiles pleaded guilty to killing Joseph Back and was sentenced to 22 years in prison. At first, Eddie Rhiles denied being in Joseph Back's house that night and pleaded not guilty. Later, however, he apologized to the victim's family and pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder charge.

UPDATE-On August 6, 2019 the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of Eddie Lee Rhiles, now 69 years old in the 1991 murder of 84-year-old Joseph Back. On July 12, 1991 Joseph Back was stabbed to death during a burglary in his home. The elderly man was found dead during a wellness check.

On July 13, 1991, Joseph Back, 84, was found in his home at 6311 Harvin Road in Jacksonville, Florida. He had been stabbed in the chest. Joseph's family continues to advocate for their loved one and seek answers in his case.
