Jean Johnson was shot and killed in her home doorway on W. 15th Street, Gary, Indiana, on August 22, 1984, in the presence of her father. The victim's father stated that an unknown man had come to the home door requesting to see the victim. Her father called her to the door and turned to leave the room, only to hear 5 gunshots, and his daughter, Jean, saying, "I've been hit" before collapsing to the floor.
