**UPDATE*** - June 2024 - Shawn Casey Adkins was released from the Mitchell County Jail on Tuesday after spending two years behind bars. Court documents stated “further investigation” is needed before the State can proceed to a jury trial.
***ARREST MADE*** - January 2022 - A Texas man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 13-year-old daughter in 2010 was indicted last week, more than a decade after the girl was first reported missing. A grand jury in Mitchell County returned a true bill indicting Shawn C. Adkins on one count each of murder and tampering with evidence in the death of Hailey Dunn.
On December 27, 2010, Hailey Dunn was last seen leaving her mother's house to go to a friend's house, but never arrived. On December 28, 2010, Hailey's mother reported her missing. On March 16, 2013, the remains of Hailey Dunn were located near Lake J.B. Thomas in Scurry County, Texas.
