***ARREST MADE*** - On February 23, 2017, Larry Anthony Wade and Jayson G. Polk were indicted on first-degree murder charges in connection with Cheryl’s death. Both men were already incarcerated on unrelated offenses at the time of the indictments.
On May 27, 2006, 42-year-old Cheryl Denise Phillips was attending an outdoor barbecue at Edgehill Homes in Nashville, TN. The gathering was being held to celebrate Glencliff High School’s graduating class of 2006, which included Cheryl’s daughter. According to investigators, approximately 30 people were at the celebration on Edgehill Avenue when three armed men approached the gathering. At least two of the men opened fire. Cheryl was struck by a stray bullet and killed. Two other men were also injured but survived. For more than ten years, Cheryl’s case remained unsolved.
