Case Description

On the evening of March 29, 1999, 59-year-old Chawki Ibrahim was killed in an explosion in the basement of his home at 93 Standish Avenue in Quincy, MA. Police and firefighters responded shortly after 6:30 p.m. after family members reported the blast. It was later determined Chawki died from injuries caused by deep penetrating metallic shrapnel, and authorities classified his death as a homicide. Investigators said the substance believed to have caused the explosion had been identified, but did not publicly disclose what it was. No suspect information has been publicly released. Since 1999, Chawki's family continues to seek justice, while advocating for him.
