On February 21,1969, 18-year-old Calvin “Bud” Lane left home in Tucson, Arizona for what loved ones understood to be a job-related appointment. He never made it back. In the days that followed, his family searched and waited for answers—only to be met with silence as the weeks passed. More than a month later, on March 23, 1969, Bud was found deceased in Pima County. His death was investigated as a homicide. Bud spent years without his identity publicly connected to him, referred to as an unidentified person before he was ultimately identified—bringing his name back, but not the justice his family has continued to seek.
