Case Description
On September 4, 1989, Annamaria Phelps and Daniel Lauer were traveling from Amelia County to Virginia Beach, Virginia, in Daniel’s gold 1973 Chevrolet Nova Coupe. When they failed to arrive at their destination, their families reported them missing to the Virginia State Police. The following day, Daniel’s vehicle was found abandoned at a westbound rest area along Interstate 64 in New Kent County. On October 19, 1989, hunters discovered human remains in a wooded area approximately three miles east of the rest area. The remains were later identified as Annamaria and Daniel. Their homicides remain a devastating loss, and their loved ones continue to deserve answers and justice.
