This week we share two victims from one family. Cedrick James Herbert and Nathan Morgan, Jr. were cousins and close friends. They were also fathers, sons, brothers, friends and cared for by many.
Both are also the victims of separate unsolved homicides in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Cedrick Herbert’s murder us spotlighted first with Nathan Morgan’s below.
On June 15, 2009, Cedrick Herbert, 23, was shot and killed, execution style, in a friend’s Murfreesboro, Tennessee apartment. Investigators believe that Cedrick was woken up by his killer(s) bursting through the front door.
The suspect(s) demanded Cedrick get on his knees and shot him three times in the back of the head. Cedrick’s friend found him deceased when she returned to her home just after 9:00am. Nothing was taken from the apartment.
The impact of Cedrick’s murder has been far reaching and devastating to those that knew him, including his close friend and cousin Nathan Morgan.
Investigators believe that someone may have seen something, even if they don’t realize it. Family members have created a Facebook page seeking justice and detectives, who say they do have suspects, have publicly asked the community to provide that one last bit of information that will get Cedrick’s killer(s) off the streets.
If you have any information, no matter how small, please call the Murfreesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (615) 893-2717. To remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward, call Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at (615) 893-STOP (7867).
On May 22, 2010, Nathan Morgan Jr., 24, was shot and killed while visiting friends on Eagle Street in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
Nathan and his friends were outside talking when an unknown man jumped the neighbors fence and opened fire on the group. Nathan was hit three times and died at that hospital a short time later.
Investigators do not believe Nathan was the intended target. Less than a year after losing his good friend and cousin, Cedrick Herbert, to violence, Nathan Morgan would become the second murder victim in his family with an unsolved case.
Investigators believe this is a solvable case and have asked the community to come forward with any information that may have.
If you know something about the unsolved murder of Nathan Morgan, please call the Murfreesboro Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at (615) 893-2717. To remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a reward, call Rutherford County Crime Stoppers at (615) 893-STOP (7867).
If you have a loved one that is the victim of an unsolved homicide please submit their case here for consideration in a future Cold Case Spotlight post.
