In the early morning hours of December 24, 2006, Timothy Hart, 28, was walking home from work with three female friends. One of the women was Timmy’s pregnant girlfriend. As they walked eastbound in the alley in the 3100 block of West 63rd Street in Chicago, IL, two men approached the group and demanded their belongings.
Timmy advised the women to throw their purses and run. A struggle ensued with Timmy and the assailants while the women tried to escape. Timmy was able to get free and started to run. At that point gunfire erupted and Timmy was struck in the head as he tried to get away. Timmy’s pregnant girlfriend was also shot; she and Timmy’s unborn son survived. No arrests have been made as some witnesses have refused to come forward.
Timmy’s Christmas Eve murder has haunted those that knew and loved him, including ruining the family’s favorite holiday. Timmy was taken from his two children, one he never even got to meet. Timmy’s sister, Stacy, raised Timmy and now takes care of his two children while desperately trying to get witnesses to come forward in hopes of solving Timmy’s death. Stacy also works to bring attention to gun violence in Chicago and throughout the country.
