On March 26, 1997, Curtis Williamson, 16, and his cousin were chased into Mission Bay after a fight broke out in the Crown Point Shores parking lot in San Diego, California.

After swimming safely to an anchored buoy several yards offshore, the individuals that chased them entered the water and began swimming after them.

Investigators believe that Curtis drowned while attempting to escape those chasing him. Curtis’ cousin was saved by a rescue boat after police arrived on the scene.

Despite numerous witnesses, no arrests have ever been made.

Curtis’ mother has launched a campaign to help families get answers after this type of tragic loss. Visit her Justice4Curtis page to read about her journey and sign a petition she has started in hopes of changing laws regarding minor (under age 18) victims of homicide.

If you have any information, no matter how small you think it is, about Curtis Williamson’s death, please call the San Diego Police Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293. To remain anonymous call SD County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-TIPS.

You may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest in this case.
