On January 11, 2014 Christopher McDowell was killed by a hit and run driver on St. Johns Bluff Road in Jacksonville, Florida.

Christopher was found by a patrolling police officer around 3:30am.

The Florida Highway Patrol believes Christopher was walking home from a convenience store when he was struck by a gray or silver SUV or truck. There would have been damage to the right front area of the vehicle.

Christopher, 19, had just, days before, moved out on his own to become more independent as he began college and his pursuit of becoming an engineer.

Christopher had previously lived with his aunt and uncle after his mother died of a brain aneurysm in 2006. Despite that loss, Christopher was described by family as a “promising young man” and “hands down one of the funniest people” one friend had ever met.

Christopher’s family does not believe the person that killed him is bad, but was careless and the family continues to ask that person to come forward and take responsibility.

If you have any information, no matter how small you think it is, about Christopher’s hit and run death, please call the Florida Highway Patrol at (904) 695-4000.

To remain anonymous call Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-TIPS. You may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000 if your Crime Stoppers tip leads to an arrest in this case.
